Resumen

The intensive use of antibiotics in various human activities has increased their presence in aquatic ecosystems, causing ecotoxicological effects on non-target organisms. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of bioactive compounds present in water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and duckweed (Lemna minor) on antibiotic-induced ecotoxicity in Gammarus sp. The methodology consisted of a completely randomized design with an A×B+1 factorial arrangement to determine the median lethal concentration (LC₅₀) of amoxicillin, ampicillin, and chloramphenicol, as well as to evaluate the effect of the bioactive compounds at concentrations of 5% and 10%. The results showed LC₅₀ values of 1130.1 mg/L for amoxicillin, 986.32 mg/L for ampicillin, and 703.71 mg/L for chloramphenicol. Treatments with 5% E. crassipes and 5% L. minor increased the survival of Gammarus sp. compared to exposure to amoxicillin and ampicillin; furthermore, 5% L. minor exhibited the greatest protective efficacy. It is concluded that the bioactive compounds evaluated exert a differential protective effect on Gammarus sp., whose response depends on both the type of antibiotic and the concentration used
